Notorious Ship is an active, fully wooden constructed sailing ship, the amazing, re- creation of a 1480’s Portuguese or Spanish Caravelle and the only vessel representing the 15th century sailing in the Southern Hemisphere.
ABOUT
In this globally unique achievement, amateur boatbuilder Graeme Wylie researched, designed and constructed the caravelle single-handedly, and from salvaged timber.
The ship’s keel was laid in January 2001, with launching on 7th February 2011 at Port Fairy, Southern Ocean, S/W Victoria.
Since 2012, Notorious Ship has, with a crew of two, sailed over 23000NM through the Southern Ocean, Bass Strait, the Tasman and Coral Seas.
Notorious Ship has Opened for Public Inspection at over forty ports along the Eastern Australian Seaboard, with many thousands of enthralled visitors from all walks of life, exploring the magnificent caravelle, onboard and below deck…
