If boating is more your style, you can launch your own boat from one of the many boat ramps with easy access or hire a boat for a fun day of fishing. The Lake has plenty of spots to drop in a line off the breakwalls or jetties and you can even clean and barbeque your fresh fish at one of the foreshore BBQ’s.
The lake foreshore is dotted with many BBQs, picnic shelters and playgrounds including a children’s Ninja course for the kids to enjoy, the kids will also love to paddle in the calm clear waters of Lake Illawarra.
The Lake Illawarra Art Trail commencing at Reddall Reserve features some amazing sculptures that depict Shellharbour, the lake, it’s history and it’s people. While you are exploring the lake foreshore you can venture out to Windang Island, here you will see the historic remnants of the rails and wheels that were used to transport rock for the breakwall.
The shared pathways along the foreshore are perfect for a walk or a bike ride with the path extending to Oak Flats to the west or Shellharbour village to the east, the choice is yours.
