✈️ “Honouring Those Who Serve" at HARS Aviation Museum tomorrow Friday 10 April.
Serving military personnel, veterans and civil emergency service first responders who have been recognised with a decoration or medal are invited to a special event featuring historic military aircraft planned for this weekend`s Tarmac Days.
Event Schedule:
🕙 10:00am – Sign-in and morning tea
🎤 Official opening with VIP guests thanking those who serve(d)
✈️ Aircraft demonstrations featuring historic military aircraft including the
• Bell UH‑1 Iroquois (Huey)
• de Havilland Canada DHC‑4 Caribou
• Douglas C‑47 Skytrain
• Lockheed Super Constellation
The event concludes at 12:30pm, after which attendees who have served are invited to the Albion Park RSL Club for a sponsored lunch.
Morning tea and aircraft fuel costs have been generously supported by regional RSL sub-branches and clubs.
The invitation is extended to current and former members of the military and emergency services, including Police, Fire, Ambulance, SES and RFS.
⚠️ Please note: aircraft operations are subject to last-minute serviceability and cannot be guaranteed.

A short walk across the strip to some wild ocean views at Windang Island👀
📍Windang Island
Windang Island, sitting at the entrance to Lake Illawarra, was once part of a big plan to turn the lake into a coal export harbour. The idea? Dredge the entrance for large ships and transport coal by sea.
Today, you can still spot the remnants of that vision with the rusted rail tracks and the wagon wheels around the island. These tracks once carried rock from a local quarry to help build the breakwater.
In the end, the plan was abandoned in favour of Port Kembla Harbour, but the history remains etched into the landscape.
Next time you make the crossing, take a moment to look a little closer 👣
